Fox’s ‘Lucifer’ TV Show: Satanic Deception Goes Primetime – Lucifer Is a Good Guy?

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20.

Thousands Sign Petition Against New FOX TV Series

Is the FOX Network planning on portraying Lucifer as a good guy in an upcoming TV series? Should viewers be disturbed by this prospect?

Is the FOX Network planning on portraying Lucifer as a good guy in an upcoming TV series?

While thousands of potential viewers have signed a petition against an upcoming FOX Network series entitled Lucifer, whether or not the title character is “good or evil” is a matter of debate.

In May 2015, the FOX Network announced that 2016 would see the premiere of Lucifer, a television series based upon the premise of the rebellious archangel’s leaving his dominion over the underworld and returning to Earth in human form:

Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, The original fallen angel, Lucifer Morningstar has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.

On 28 May 2015, the American Family Association and One Million Moms started identical online petitions (the former of which has drawn over 50,000 signatures to date) urging followers to importune FOX against carrying through with their plans for the series, protesting that the show would “glorify Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh” and “mischaracterize Satan”:

FOX has plans to air a new series which will glorify Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh.

I am urging FOX Network to immediately cancel plans to air “Lucifer.”

The program previews mischaracterize Satan, departs from true biblical teachings about him, and inaccurately portrays the beliefs of the Christian faith.

By choosing to air this show, FOX is disrespecting Christianity and mocking the Bible.

The issue is a subjective one, but the précis for the show suggests that the while Lucifer certainly borrows themes and characters from the Bible, the titular protagonist has much more in common with the Lucifer character in Neil Gaiman’s comic book series The Sandman than the one described in religious scripture. (We also note that much of the imagery and characteristics commonly associated with Satan in western culture actually derive from the “Inferno” section of Dante Alighieri’s 14th-century epic poem Divine Comedy rather than from the Bible itself.)

The Devil has come to Los Angeles …

Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, LUCIFER is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.

Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things — wine, women and song — when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him — as well as his best friend and confidante, MAZIKEEN, a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman.

The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective CHLOE DANCER, who initially is dismissive of Lucifer. But she becomes intrigued by his talent for drawing out people’s secrets and his desire to dispense justice, doling out punishment to those who deserve it. As they work together to solve the pop star’s murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Accustomed to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is intrigued by Chloe’s apparent purity and begins to wonder if there’s hope for his own soul yet.

At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel AMENADIEL (DB Woodside, “Suits,” “24”), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to the underworld … can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil?

Some viewers may find distasteful any portrayal of Biblical characters in a manner that departs from what is set forth in scripture; others may consider intriguing and hopeful the speculative prospect of the devil’s living among us in human form and potentially being inspired by the goodness of others to redeem his own soul.

A trailer for the series released on 11 May 2015 provides some insight into FOX’s take on the Lucifer character:

Just when it seemed that primetime television could not get any more satanic – Fox television (the “conservative” network) is set to make a show that celebrates Satan himself.Lucifer, a new drama series from Fox, follows the life of Satan as he lives in Los Angeles attempting to solve a murder and use his powers to start helping people. The fact that a show like this could even be made much less air on a major network is another sign of just how far society has turned from God and the Bible. And certainly how easy the hearts and minds of many people are open to satanic deception.

And here is the show synopsis:

“Lucifer is an American television series that is set to air on Fox, and it is a loose adaptation of the comic book character created by Neil Gaiman for the comic book series The Sandman and its spin off comic book series Lucifer written by Mike Carey, both published by DC Comics’ Vertigoimprint.

Based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, the TV series centers on Lucifer who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.”(source).

Creating Sympathy For The Devil

Lucifer shares a cute moment with a child on the show.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.- John 8:44.

The clear aim of the show is to change the image of the Devil from the Biblical description. As stated in the passage above, The Lord Jesus Christ called Satan a “murderer from the beginning” and “the father of lies.” It is deception that Satan initially used in the Garden of Eden to lure Adam and Eve, the first two human beings, into sin:

Now the serpent was more [subtle] than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. – Genesis 3:1-6.

The book of Revelation confirms that the serpent in the Garden of Eden was the devil:“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Revelation 12:9). Satan deceived Eve by telling her the exact opposite of what God had commanded Adam: that if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would “surely die.” Casting doubt about God’s Word has been one of Satan’s main weapons in his efforts to destroy humanity. In the Lucifer TV series, the Devil only tells the truth. Most of his power over people is demonstrated by his ability to tell them the blunt truth about themselves and their desires. And on top of his honesty, the Lucifer of the TV show wants to help humanity. As one review of the pilot wrote: “Believe it or not, a creature who brings evil and temptation sometimes may do nice things, such as help to investigate a murder, save human life, and refuse to accept any human soul even if they are willing to sell it to him.” This is precisely the type of lie Satan wants to plant in their hearts and minds of humanity.

Satan’s Hatred of Humanity

Satan plays with a coin with a Satanic Baphomet symbol at the bar of his night club.

The book of Job, one of the oldest books of the Bible, provides insight into the Devil’s hatred for humanity. In the book Job, a wealthy and powerful patriarch who a true believer in God. He lived a Godly life of faith and raised his family to worship God:

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. – Job 1:1-5.

Job not only provided for his ten children, he set a Godly example by offering sacrifices on their behalf and seeking God’s mercy for any sins they may have committed. He was a man who “eschewed” or wanted no part of evil behavior. And Job would have his faith tested as he was the subject of a challenge between God and the Devil.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. – Job 1: 6-12.

This is one of the most remarkable passages in the Bible. It records a direct conversation between God and Satan. And it reveals a great deal of information. First off we see thatSatan is not in Hell. This is a grave misconception. Satan does not live in Hell, nor does the Bible ever record him being in hell. As written above, he travels “to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” Satan has free access to travel all over the planet. 1 Peter 5:8 confirms this: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

We also learn that Satan has access to Heaven. As the “sons of God” – a title for the angelic beings are standing before The Lord in a heavenly assembly – Satan is right alongside them. God asks the Devil if he had considered tempting Job into sin and Satan responded by detailing the protection and blessings The Lord placed upon His faithful servant. God put a “hedge” of protection around Job that kept the Devil and his minions away from this God-fearing family. And then Satan moved to his true agenda – to accuse Job of not truly loving God or having faith. The essence of the Devil’s accusation was that the only reason that Job worshiped God was because of all of the material wealth that he enjoyed. And that if that was gone, Job would curse God “to His face.”

Lucifer’s special coin bears an image of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

This revealed Satan’s intent – as was the case in the Garden of Eden he wants to corrupt humanity and expose all people as evil before God. Revelation 12 describes him as “….the accuser of our brethren… which accused them before our God day and night.” The name Satan in Hebrew means “adversary.” When given access to Job, his hateful, wicked agenda was further revealed:

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. (Job 1:13-19).

With permission granted to attack Job if he so chose, the Devil did not hesitate to destroy everything Job held dear in life. The thousands of sheep, oxen and camels which provided so much wealth and success were stolen and killed. Satan tempted different groups of people to rob Job and also used fire from Heaven and a windstorm to kill Job’s livestock and children. The abilities of Satan to actually harm people should not be underestimated. The book of Ephesians refers to Satan as “the prince of the power of the air.” The Devil hated Job and since God would not allow him to physically harm him, he wanted to ruin his life. Though Job had done nothing to him personally – in a moment the Devil killed all of Job’s ten children. He wanted to hurt Job deeply. This is who Satan is – a being who wants to destroy humanity.

Lucifer TV show Illuminati Satanic deception | Can Satan be redeemed?

The Devil ruins a wedding by urging the bride to confess she does not truly love the groom.

Though he had taken everything of worldly value from Job – he had no power to take Job’s faith. This was proven by Job’s reaction to all of the devastating news about the destruction of his household:

Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. – Job 1:20-22.

And this reveals the heart of a true believer. A Christian understands that this world is fallen and corrupted – specifically because of Satan’s deception of Eve in the Garden. It was Satan who plotted humanity’s fall. Sin plunged the world into a downward spiral depravity and gave the need for redemption. Job understood this and that is why he still praised God. Because he understood that his soul being saved for eternity was more important than any earthly wealth. Having his children die and go to Heaven was far more important than them outliving him as unbelievers. And thus the challenge between God and Satan continued:
